Just an idea.

If you are using TrueType fonts, try increasing the "scale_y" value...

According to the manual, TTFonts arent affected by text.scale_ changes,
so if you increase the scale_y, it should, to my thinking, make the gaps
between the lines further apart...

But if you are using bmap-fonts, I have no idea...
