Yes of course it's easy to do it the mechanical way and of course you also can do rather complex shapes that way and that also most certainly is the way in which the huge majority of crop circles come into existence. But e.g. look at those bltresearch examinations I linked in this topic. You'll find some analysis there whose results aren't explainable by mechanical bending...
