I've got an AGP card as well. The difference might appear because I have a clean windows installation, without lots of applications that slow it down, occupy the system tray, eat precious system resources, and so on. I don't even have a wallpaper - can you believe that? Choose Start -> Run and then type msconfig and press Enter. You'll be surprised to see how many programs load at startup - disable the ones that aren't needed.
