It looks good, but those details you mention are hardly visible, I also doubt if it will be when this will be converted to 8-bit as a start-up screen.

Thank you!

I dont see your problem: I use only greyscale colors and a bit red. In my graphics application I am used to I can use some tricky 8bit color conversion algorithms to make it as optimized as possible. Look, here is my last entry in 8bit. You were right, it was too bright, so I darkened it a bit and raised the contrast:

If you dont believe it: its a GIF with true an 8bit colortable! Download it and see yourself. So, in fact all of my entries are designed to have smooth color transitions for style reasons, but not so many colors, so that 8bit versions suck. OK, the image which would be used on the starter or in the tools will be smaller, but if the "8bit-quality" is on my big versions high enough I doubt that the quality will be bad on smaller sized versions.

Hm.. I like my shiny little red plate I will have a look if it looks good as well on my other entries

Cheers and a have a good one!
Christian

[EDIT]

I see some typical "GIF" color artifacts on the transitionsof the background. Well, no matter, I guess the 8bit version would'nt have the background instead of a tga splashscreen ingame or so.. whatever.
