Lake scene

I'am working on this lake scene. Just doing it to have fun. it is not only graphically good, but also good in performance.

Large area, 2536 entites, a lot of shaders, projected shadow, water (reflection+refraction), and i get 60 fps at 1920x1080 resolution, with my Amd R9 380. The magical word is "tweaks" of course.

With this project, i noticed that Game Studio has a much higher potential than I thought. It just needs to be in the hands of someone who knows the job, and of course needs a good editor. WED is out of title, if we want to create good level like this. it's having trouble even opening this level, literally. laugh

This demo not good enough right know but it's just a one man made project. I'm still working on it. I will share playable version but i don't know when will be ready.

Video is here.(New)

Demo is here. (NEW V1.5)

Btw it's A7.

Have a nice working day.

The project is done. There will be no update

Thank you, NeoDumont! I am glad if this project motivated you. Btw there is an excellent program for making trees, which I am using it. If you are interested you can download it from here. (it's free)

Really nice atmosphere! Acknex Engine is just underestimated (=
I would love it to see the whole sequence in a foggy environment under a sky of stars.

Thank you for trying the demo you guys! Also thanks for sharing your comments.

@jumpman; more performance improvements can be made but i can't do it alone. For example all trees in the demo have at least 3500 polygon. it would be different if the trees and grasses were made by a modeler, with better lod design.

I got inspiration from the following article, when i decided to create this project;

http://www.theastronauts.com/2014/02/approached-3d-foliage-vanishing-ethan-carter/

They have a very proffessional modeller. (they use also photogrammetry but that's not my point.) I believe that a better performance improvement can be achieved with professional team.

Sorry for third post. The demo is completed now. You can download new version from first post.

What is new: There are many little improvements but most important is the autumn option and camera collision.

There are many projects that show the capacity of gamestudio. I hope this little project has been one of them. Thank you for trying it.

Have nice weekend for all of you.
