Star Explorers

EDIT: Star Explorers 3.0 release is up, and the game is on sale this weekend ... check it out!

EDIT: Star Explorers has been Greenlit! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=700074180

I've been working on Star Explorers for a few years now, and its' finally starting to look and feel the way I imagined it. Star Explorers allows the player to explore a randomly generated galaxy with stars, planets and other features.

The goal will be to find earth-like planets, but there are many other types of worlds to search through along the way. Here are some screen shots of the game as it looks right now:

I am submitting Star Explorers to the Indie Megabooth at PAX West 2017. Wish me luck! Also, any advice, I have never been to one of these conventions before.

Cool, let us know how it was afterwards. Never been to one before, but probably good idea be sure to have fixed all the bugs and that your game can run over longer periods of time (/just to be on the safe side).

Early Access release scheduled 04/30/2017
I plan to submit the game to Valve on this date. I cannot guarantee if/when it will be approved. Wish me luck!

Good luck with the launch!
However, Valve usually needs a couple of business days to review your build.
(Why don't/ didn't you send in a build first, wait for approval and then announce a release date?)

Early Access released ... bugs and all laugh

http://store.steampowered.com/app/502720/Star_Explorers/

I managed to get rid of most of the big problems, and it is now possible to get through all the game's quests, or simply explore if you prefer. There are some issues with scanning stars and the database. There is also an issue with inventory, where you lose half you items unexpectedly, but I am going to use user feedback to help track these issues down.

Anyway, I am excited and hopeful about the prospects!

Omg 'Ackenxium Crystals' , I see what you did there grin . I couldn't help but to laugh when the reviewer tried to pronounce that (at 2:40).

edit: going to give some feedback cause a few basic but important things are missing that can really damage your game's rating (/give you negative reviews). Maybe you are already aware of them:
- add simple tutorial or some help screen(s).
- customize-able keybinding and mouse sensitivity (ingame too).
- overall lack of options/settings it seems (take a peek at some other games to get a good idea, it may not seem important but it can be at specific cases for the player).

Some lesser urgent points:
- inventory is quite bland, add some shading / details to it.
- mission panel could also use some extra shading.
- overall could use more details even on barren planets (maybe more different rocks or crevices or craters or such).

Good luck laugh

I just saw it today. Unfortunately the guy's selfie camera was covering up the (admittedly bland) game HUD. Also, without volume he was missing important (and mildly entertaining) audio queues.

I am ready for what they've got though. I love working on the game so I look forward to improving it.

Thank you, yes there are a few nods to the GameStudio community, without which the game would not really exist.

I am gathering user feedback and plan on an update in two weeks or so.
