G.R.U.N.T.S. is an episodic first person adventure. Each episode follows a certain scheme. Parodies of classic videogame cliches aswell as playing with the perception of the unique graphical style open up a new depth of the game world.

The story is predictably simple: Some guy wakes up in a videogame. He does not really know how he got here, but since a big breasted woman (of course) and some guns (obviously) are at play, he decided to play along in defeating the evil alien virus (what else?) to get back home.

The main focus of the game is it to explore the world and the humor in this graphically fascinating new world. Of course there is a fair batch of action, still greeted with the strange humor of the game.

G.R.U.N.T.S. - Episode 1 KAUFEN!

G.R.U.N.T.S. ist ein First Person Adventure im episodischen Format. Jede Episode folgt einem gewissen Schema. Es werden klassische Videospielklischees aufgearbeitet und durch den Kakao gezogen und es wird mit dem einzigartigen Grafikstil gespielt um neue, faszinierende Schichten der Spielwelt zu erschaffen.

Die Handlung ist denkbar einfach: Ein Mann wacht plötzlich in einem Videospiel auf. Er weiß zwar nicht genau, wie er hierher gekommen ist, aber da er hier von einer großbusigen attraktiven Frau (natürlich) nicht nur mit Informationen versorgt, sondern auch mit Waffen (selbstverständlich) ausgestattet wird, die ihm helfen sollen, gegen den bösen Alienvirus (was auch sonst?) zu bestehen, stimmt er dem Wahnsinn zu, um wieder nach Hause zu kommen.

Der Gedanke des Spiels ist es hauptsächlich, neben dem sehr eigenen Humor und dem simplen, aber wirkungsvollen Grafikstil, die Spielwelt zu erkunden und Rätsel zu lösen. Selbstverständlich kommt dabei die Action auch nicht zu kurz. Doch auch dabei schlägt sich wieder der schräge Humor durch.

How did you model the rooms and what modeler did you use ?
I just want to learn a little about how to make and connect
the rooms !

i used WED for all my level work. and i think i am the only person in the world who actually likes it and can work with it really well XD

So, entire special effect is shader work? Since the video periodically made me think that 'outlines' were merged into objects and levels.
Designing levels with A8 WED is pretty easy, after setting up a couple of shortcuts and learning to use Box tool properly.
For comparsion, A5 WED did not have any of 'newer' universal tools, but move-rotate-scale, binded to ctrl\shift\alt made it comfortable to work with.


Unfortunately, I've not worked with 3dGS for a while now, but it was fun

there are NO SHADERS at all on the models. everything is modeled (courtesy of achaziel and Morten_Storm)

the only shader is a small snippet written by Chris B. that removes the mipmapping and texture filtering to achieve the pixelated effect.
