Description
Hey Guys!

I've been working on this very hard lately.
I've been working on a Double Dragon 2: the revenge (NES) remake.
The features are:
- 2D to 3D (visual style)
- up to 4 player support (2 player limited in the demo)
- Ragdolls grin (updated template, using blending as well now!)
- and ofcourse old school Beat 'em up gameplay! (yes, the spinkick is also implemented! try kicking while jumping ;))
- now added Hit FX and Sound
- (secret feature; try the Konami code on the menu)

Have fun playing this demo... All scripts and everything are included, but I will release the whole source soon for everybody for free as well laugh

You can change the keymapping in the keyMapping.ini file, but standard setup is:

player 1:
wasd- move
q/e - punch/kick
r - block
c - jump

player 2:
ijkl - move
u/o - punch/kick
p - block
m - jump

Well, visually it's ok but the attacks are way too laggy. No sound at all, n ot even background music.

Spinning kick didn't work for me, nor did the run and jump kick. Default control setup was way too awkward (seriously, qweasdc.. that's just wrong). I know I can change it in ini (tbh, that's the first file I opened :P) but personally, I always like it when games come with a good default setup.

Anyways, gameplay.

I like how goons run upto you and stop just like DD (though I hated DD, still do). But I have no idea whether they are hitting me or not since:

a) There is no sound effects/feedback when getting hit
b) No visual feedback on player or enemies

Visually, like I said, it looks ok but I didn't really enjoy it or anything.. :|

Like I said, music/sounds was to be done, and im no musician xD I have no clue how to make my own music/sounds tongue I'll have to find some free ones on the web...
Trying to figure out a good key setup using only the keyboard, and setting it up so it runs for multiplayer as well was quite hard, that's why i stick with this setup, i agree though, it's far from ideal.

And I have completely forgotten about hit impacts/visuals shocked hahahaa, that's a fail on my side as well tongue

I'll be addressing all the issues soon, but for me it was important getting something done for the contest; if i had no deadline, i'd never gotten this up unto the state it's at now.

I'm gonna release it all with the original models (maya workfiles) soon... in this download you can already see the scipts and edit the WMP file laugh so nothing is stopping you from modding it already wink

thanks for the feedback, appreciated, will take it all into account in a future patch (somewhere the coming days :P)

regards,

I played without sound !
The style of graphics is great laugh

The problems, puch and kick animations are bad , they would need to be done with the entire body not only the arm or leg !
When you are near enought it seems you don't touch the opponent ? or do you need ten hit to beat an opponent ?
And yes add hit effects to really see you have hit the ennemie.

In a future version add some temporary weapons also laugh !
Keep it up !

For those that have downloaded it already. please Give it another go.
I have fixed 2 bugs, made animations a bit faster and added hit indication FX (very cheap, lol).
To those that havent played yet, just download it and have fun wink

It's under the same link again, get it in the top post.
Feedback would be very appreciated!

regards,
