Meteor Mess ( RELEASED )

As the name says: a remake of the mother of all adventures Maniac Mansion in 3D, with Ankh / Jack Keane like graphics.
We made this game to learn how 3D Gamestudio works and to use this knowledge for our first own project.

The last days we were busy with implementing and improving a garbage collection which automatically removes our dynamically created objects like sounds, bmaps, entities or even strings.

The garbage collection runs every 60 seconds and removes all objects that aren't used anymore. All other objects were removed when changing the rooms.

Currently we are adding a quite similiar feature to the one that can be found in Maniac Mansion Deluxe:

Some objects (like doors) get a default action that can be accessed by pressing the right mouse button. If an object has a default action the verb that belongs to this action gets highlighted.

The pictures of the verbs have been changed. The previous ones were just placeholders and currently we're testing the look&feel of the new ones.

If everything feels right we will show you some screenshots with the new verb-pics in the next few days.

New improved light-scripts have been coded.

Instead of setting dynamic lights in WED which can't be modified during runtime in a proper way, we set invisible dummy models in WED where we normally would place the light and set different properties in the skills of those dummies.

Those lights can have two lightranges with two different colors, flags for spotlight and configurable blinking mode and a switchable humming sound for neon lights.

In Maniac Mansion there is a circuit braker which turns off the power in the whole house. With those two different lightranges and colors we can build up the mood for the "dark house":
In rooms with a fireplace there is still coming light from the fire ... and there's also light coming from the moon through windows and so on.

The lights will be changed step by step from now on and we will post some new pictures as well in near future.

Yes, I think we can show some videos in near future.

The lights of one room with a fireplace in it is nearly finished. I think it's a good example to show how the lights work.

I just came home from Work an saw the Changes, Pegamode had made in the mean time, to our game.
The new Lights look fantastic. That fire glowing in the plantroom is realy "HOT".

I'm currently busy with replacing the old WED-lights with the new ones and adding new light-fx (candles, moonlight through windows etc.).

About 70% is finished for this first optimization phase ... a second phase for finetuning will be done after the finetuning of the room-models has been finished.

Please post some vid's. Want to see them.
BTW do your lights leak behind walls. Or do you have some kind of control over them not showing behind occluded geometry.
