Tales of Eris - new cave screen

The new scenario assembling philosophy of this old project: MDL scenarios only. Since even with .dds textures some textures can't go past 4096x4096 in resolution, i found out that you can actually break the meshes in several pieces and export each one individually. They look almost seamless in gamestudio, and can have both backed shadow and complex bump details from a heavy render. Those shots still have the old player character, but he'll be replaced by a newer model very soon.

Did you paint the textures by yourself?
I´m currently playing Tales of Symphonia 2 and I´m again impressed what kind of clear, unique look hand painted textures can give to a whole game!

This paint look is very time consuming, but is useful to avoid a battle agains shader code, and shader devoid 3d cards.
Personally, i'd like to give the paint looks to players and hero NPCs only, and use realistic bump shaders on the monsters... but i have so much code to fix that i'll probably use the same texture feel to everybody in the begginig.

The textures are very very sweet, and the models are cool.

Great style, i like it a lot !

Only floor textures would need more resolution i think.

Even with most of the code done, the majority of assets and scenarios are too damn old, some incompatible with present standards and a video wouldn't make justice to the new models.
Maybe it was precipitated to place it in spotlight so soon, but fact is that the feedback on those few images are really important for the development.
After replacing the main character and his gear, the next step will be fixing some of the code and starting scenarios - so a video will come later laugh
