Blade Of Power [+demo]

Hello,

...and welcome to showcase of my first project with 3D Game Studio.
........................................................
Blade of Power in short:
Project >Blade Of Power< has started as a small fun-fiction adventure game based on a popular cartoon serie from the '80 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. At the beginning, it combined full 3D environment with 2D animated characters. From there it evolved into a fully original first-person game with unique 3D characters and plot that combines adventure segments with action gameplay.
........................................................

Blade Of Power project is going through some deep design changes so none of the videos displayed on this page no longer represents the real development stage of the game, game levels or content... but they are still fun to watch smile

Walkthrough of the Kingdom of Artha: Castle (level 3 /sub-level 3 of 4):

Blade Of Power game overview:

>New video<
Walkthrough of the Kingdom of Artha: Lower Wing (level 3 /sub-level 4 of 4):

........................................................

Blade Of Power demo that is available for download is, at this moment (26.04.2010), about 10 months old and it no longer represents the real development stage of the game, game levels or content.
Demo has been broke into four files for easier download. I hope you enjoy it smile

http://bladeofpower.weebly.com/demo.html

Btw when evaluating this demo you should keep in mind that...

-all character models, friendly & enemy, have been replaced or enhanced
-all music & most of the audio effect files have been replaced or enhanced
-laser battling is replaced with sword fighting
-enemy AI is replaced with David Lancester's Glorious Combat script adapted for first person sword fight

..unfortunately non of this updates is in the presentable form frown
........................................................
........................................................
Blade of Power team is:

Nikolic Pavle >Ganderoleg< / Story, gameplay, 2D & 3D art, animation and programing.
Gligorijevic Ivan >Dimme< / Story, music & audio effects.

...with very special credits & thanks to:
Andjelkovic Petar/ Story, additional level designer.
Urosevic Svetlana/ Design advisory and tester.
........................................................
For more information visit Blade of Power site at:

http://bladeofpower.weebly.com

Site contains over 100 screenshots, three videos & Blade Of Power demo.
........................................................

Thanx for checking out this post. Have fun.

There has been a lot of changes in game battle concept lately. For some time now I have been working on David Lancaster's Glorious Combat code to make it fit our game combat-concept. It's still a WIP in every aspect but we believe that game action parts will seem more appropriate now then before.

..........................................................

This is a small sword-battle demo that shows where game is heading at this moment...

...and here are some shots of new enemy model based on Dexsoft Fantasy Warrior model...

sorry, but may i ask what normal/spec mapping shaders you use? laugh

like the setup and the visuals, not a fan of the animations but i know its wip.. also, the sprites stand out with the environment, the environment seems somewhat realistic and some of the sprites seem more suited for a toon game

Thanx for checking out the new video smile

I'm mainly using the shader I've found in user resources that was contributed by Fogman and coded by RedPhoenix. It's under the Specular normalmapping with specular map topic, here is the link:

http://www.opserver.de/ubb7/ubbthreads.p...true#Post248554

Animations in new video are a bit off because I haven't been able to make good transitions between different fight-cycles. I hope that they will look better once I manage to make some smoothing sub-frames.

Fight effects & sprites are still to be tuned up and death concept will be very different. We were thinking of animation where enemies disappear leaving a manna-cloud behind smile That way player's weapon can be recharged after enemy's death.

I think that uploading your demo to rapidshare was really non-professional because all the demos suppose to be free, and for the people that doesn't have a rapidshare account is going to be impossible to download the demo. Not even the firts part of it.
One more little advise: Do not create a commercial website with a free website company. It is agood way to start but still non-professional and if you try to sell your game you need a professional company to host your files like : http://godaddy.com
I'm not intented to start fire attack. Take this like an advise from a good friend and you will sell a lot of DVDs.

Good luck, dude

You are right about the site but it wasn't meant to be professional at this time. It was built to be informative and to hold lots of screenshots and a few Youtube clips but nothing more then that smile After the game development reaches near-end stage we will build up a regular, professional site.

Unfortunately demo that's uploaded at this time on the site is not open for public viewing frown We will publish a new, more advanced demo once game comes to it's final stages.

Thanx for taking interest in our game and for advices.
I followed the link you posted and that company seems very professional. It's something to consider when the time comes.

Yeah- your the first to recognize it smile It's not noticeable unless enemy does leg-kick (or if you know that specific gun model from ivanpxxx)
I still have to modify design of the sword & false leg in a following days. Nothing radical: just a slimmer sword (people say it looks like a cricket bat grin )and a different cap on the end of the false leg so it looks a bit more like a false leg.

Gorgeous.
I like the style and I like the idea of an first person fantasy action/rpg game...
