Blade Of Power [+demo]

Hello,

...and welcome to showcase of my first project with 3D Game Studio.
........................................................
Blade of Power in short:
Project >Blade Of Power< has started as a small fun-fiction adventure game based on a popular cartoon serie from the '80 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. At the beginning, it combined full 3D environment with 2D animated characters. From there it evolved into a fully original first-person game with unique 3D characters and plot that combines adventure segments with action gameplay.
........................................................

Blade Of Power project is going through some deep design changes so none of the videos displayed on this page no longer represents the real development stage of the game, game levels or content... but they are still fun to watch smile

Walkthrough of the Kingdom of Artha: Castle (level 3 /sub-level 3 of 4):

Blade Of Power game overview:

Blade Of Power new sword battle system:

>New video<
Walkthrough of the Kingdom of Artha: Lower Wing (level 3 /sub-level 4 of 4):

........................................................

Blade Of Power demo that is available for download is, at this moment (26.04.2010), about 10 months old and it no longer represents the real development stage of the game, game levels or content.
Demo has been broke into four files for easier download. I hope you enjoy it smile

http://bladeofpower.weebly.com/demo.html

Btw when evaluating this demo you should keep in mind that...

-all character models, friendly & enemy, have been replaced or enhanced
-all music & most of the audio effect files have been replaced or enhanced
-laser battling is replaced with sword fighting
-enemy AI is replaced with David Lancester's Glorious Combat script adapted for first person sword fight

..unfortunately non of this updates is in the presentable form frown
........................................................
........................................................
Blade of Power team is:

Nikolic Pavle >Ganderoleg< / Story, gameplay, 2D & 3D art, animation and programing.
Gligorijevic Ivan >Dimme< / Story, music & audio effects.

...with very special credits & thanks to:
Andjelkovic Petar/ Story, additional level designer.
Urosevic Svetlana/ Design advisory and tester.
........................................................
For more information visit Blade of Power site at:

Site contains over 100 screenshots, three videos & Blade Of Power demo.
........................................................

Thanx for checking out this post. Have fun.

For your game, is the best visual game we've seen for long time ago in the forums.
Good textures and 3D art smile !
Will the game have some outdoors, even if limited like in Bioshock 2 ?

In fact you import your low poly models from a modeler to DAZ 3D (Collada ?) ?
And can your rig them under Daz 3D, or do you have to rig them in another modeler ?

Looks like you have some decent programming going on. However is this a Shooter? Seems very weak on the action side of things to be an fps. Models are not horrible but I would look on improving them. The level design is good but the textures repeat so much theres no contrast. I would look into adding some more textures and do some lighting changes. Just my 2 cents... GS out.

For a one man project it's already lot better than any other games posted here smile

@Gamesaint762 :
You can't imagine the amount time involvesof making textures, levels etc ... : it's a good very start !

Like always if the games was good on all points there is always someone to say : it don't have the last ZZZ NExt Gen Shader or it don't have that or that !

For a beginning it's good , and ennemies models and NPC for a shooter are different from things altready seen, it's new and fresh, i hope to see more original things.
And it seems to be more adventure than FPS :
that's a good point.

Will it have platform parts like Metroid on WII ?

@William
Thanx. I'm glad you like it.

@Gamesaint762
It is more adventure-based then shooter. My idea was for game to have fight scenes in some sort of story driven quest-way.
Something like this: You find the book that tells you how to get out of the labyrinth- you go fight your way to the labyrinth. You manage to restore your kingdom defense power system- you go fight off enemies at it's gates.

@Ratchet
Thanx for support smile
At this time I am using open source figures. I do geometry modifications, re-texturing and poly reduction in Blender, new cloth, body or weapon parts in Wed and mix them all together in Med.
...but for some time now I am thinking of buying the Poser Pro. It's expensive but it comes with free for distribution man and female figure in Low&Hi polycount.
Game has limited outdoors in Philip's Kingdom: Garden(first sub-level of the first level) but real outdoors will be made in level four: Devastated Lands of the North.

Are the levels made with Levelblocks or are the complete levels made with models?

Im very interested in that.

All visible objects are in mdl format (with few wmb's and sprites) but their geometry is done in WED and then exported to mdl. All shadowmapping is made with Blender.

I don't use Ventilator's plugin but I hear it's ql and that many people are using it. I use free Autodesk fbx converter from:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=6839916

So the level & model formats between MED and Blender are fbx and obj.

When we talked about uploading a public demo, we agreed that this is not really a good time because there are a lot of things that are going to be changed until the game development ends. But there will be a demo and it will probably be available in a few months, once the final design & program solutions are implemented. Thanx for your interest grin you are the first to ask for a demo.

guys...
i think you are doing a nice job. really. but, and thats a big BUT:
get a designer. somebody who takes care that all your work blends nicely together.
its important. much more important than you may realize.
you have all this great stuff, you could easily add even more atmosphere and instantly better looking visuals if you find a matching style.
the alst batch of shots and the first batch of shots dont mix at all.
i even noticed that in the video. find a matching style and keep it. it will surely improve your game alot!
