I have been using one of the Z systems with FXCM for a couple of weeks now and it worked fine, but since yesterday it is spitting out error messages. I closed all open trades and restarted everything. Initially it looked all good and it opened a couple of new trades, but then it spat the dummy again. Mind you this is Tuesday morning, so the markets are definitely not closed. I keep getting these error messages now. Yesterday I also had 070 and 075.

!Error 072 - Can't execute
!Description=19915;DAS 19915: ZDas Exception
ORA-20126: Market is closed. Any trading functionality is not available.

Edit: Meanwhile I spoke to the broker and they assured me that everything is fine on their end.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Well, here is an update. It really is too early to say, but I switched from Wifi to CAT5 and started from scratch. Zorro opened 2 trades thus far without a glitch. If this turned out to be the cause of the issues I encountered earlier, I just wonder why it initially worked for weeks without a hitch on Wifi.

Wifi interference can come at any time without any warning. You should prefer a hard line any day - even better, prefer a VPS.

The error message above is not a WiFi glitch, but definitely a broker server issue. All ORA messages are directly from the FXCM server.

I am now wired up meaning at least no wifi issues.
The FXCM rep obviously did not look at their server log, but only confirmed that things should work with our account etc. Anyway all seems to work again and Zorro is slowly getting into the market again now.

Just shows the importance of keeping an eye on things.

JCL, I am just not sure if I did the right thing to close all trades in a panic attack, or whether there would have been a better strategy to deal with such a situation. Any thoughts on this?

Zorro is running on VPS.
For monitoring error messages I'm thinking about alarm or email notification. Is there any solutions to get notifications when Zorro has error message wile trading? Maybe sending email using http_transfer. But how to get error content?

One option: set up a PHP / ASP / .NET script started regularly by cron or similar that reads the status page(s) and scans it for problem's promissing words like 'can't', 'error' or 'orphan'. If there are search results let it send an email with the line containing the keyword.

Put the zorro status page on the inetpub website of your server. That's what I'm doing, it is very helpful that you can see your open trades and all possible orphans are also stored there.

Are you perhaps running on an undersized VPS? I had some of this kind of thing on a t2 micro and it all went away when I moved to a t2 medium.
