okay.
until now: the installer is 50MB that downloads 7GB, so atm waiting...
source is available from github, with some separated 3rd party dependencies like Recast/PhysX/OpenAL/OGG etc., just requires to register your github name at your unreal account page.
hardware and software requirements are more precise in a docs page: https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/GettingStarted/RecommendedSpecifications/index.html

5% off your revenues of the games
, is that from turnover/sales or profits?
, nevermind, I found it on this link -> http://www.moddb.com/engines/unreal-engine-4/features/unreal-engine-4-released.

That means: If your game makes $10 on the App Store, Apple may pay you $7, but you'd pay Epic $0.50 (5% of $10).

Maybe one of the advantage of Unity3d over Unreal is the mecanim system
At the beginning I was skeptic but when I got used to it I realized that it is really a great tool

Btw is Unreal 4 a component based enegine , same as Unity ?
What 3d file format does unreal support ?

unreal's persona animation system sounds very similar to mechanim.

for the first sight it is slow, I mean requires a good pc (in case of an unlit empty level it runs around 25 FPS, which drops to 10-15 if I put some things inside). on the other hand it is very easy to use, and it has some Unity feeling, and yes, objects have components. I just did it in a few minutes from the incléuded asset content:

The original Unreal engine has been developed for a commercial game same as Torque for Tribes
I remember the flame war 3dgs vs Torque
I was on 3dgs side
The point was that 3dgs was a multipurpose engine while Torque was much better than 3dgs but for some types of games only , a nightmare for anything else

Nowadays Torque is dead while 3dgs is still (more or less) alive

I wonder whether the same story is going to be repeated , Unity vs Unreal 4

@sivan: epic games' statement sounds different :S
"...while remaining both scalable and accessible to make games for low-spec PCs."

Are there any benchmarks out at the moment?

It seems Epic Games have a different definition of "low-spec".

On one page they write:
Quote:
Unreal Engine 4’s rendering architecture enables developers to achieve stunning visuals and also scale elegantly to lower-end systems

And on the other page:
Quote:
What are Unreal Engine 4's system requirements?
Desktop PC or Mac
Windows 7 64-bit or Mac OS X 10.9.2 or later
Quad-core Intel or AMD processor, 2.5 GHz or faster
NVIDIA GeForce 470 GTX or AMD Radeon 6870 HD series card or higher
8 GB RAM

We are in 2014, but really: quad-core processor and 8 GB RAM as MINIMUM spec isn't "low-end" for me
