Hey.

Iam looking for easy ways to cut models in part and close the meshes after that.

Second question:
Is theres a way to merge two meshes into one single solid mesh (that clipping parts in each other are removed)?

Guess blender is the way but its overflooding me with functions and buttons.
Always hated modeling frown

I wanna add joints to my 3d printed action figures.

Btw i used MED for preparing all files

Goal is cutting arms (fex) adding joints having new single solid closed meshes again the printer can produce.

Thanks for any tips.
Or maybe some model guy is bored laugh

Edit
Maybe autodesk meshmixer is a way.

The boolean modifier in blender with it's mode set to "intersect" can do that wink

Yes blender was the way.
What a night...tryed for hours to cut arms and build Joints in.
Now it works !

Problem was something with the Vertices of the model.
I opened in med selected all Vertices and pressed "merge" laugh

Now everything in blender works.

Next step will be better Joints laugh
Man if it works, its always a good Feeling laugh

MED again rocks ! Great tool !

@Rayp:

There is a free (GPL) tool called Meshlab. Its a lttle more straightforward in the user interface design than Blender because it focuses on mesh manipulation only. It has a megaton of functions build in some of them are VERY useful. I used it for polygon reduction as well as smoothing, repairing, and other transformations. Its really an excellent program. Just in case...

Your monster looks great and 3D prints also (good quality !)

@rayp: No, im not confusing it with meshmixer. Although meshmixer seems to be free software it needs a lot 4 GB RAM. Also heard of meshmixer the first time here :-).

I just saw that the latest version of meshlab is developed for 64bit Win only, if I saw it right.

I am using meshlab from Apr 2014: Meshlab_32bit v1.3.3. It runs fine on WinXP(SP3) on my stonage 1.5 GB Ram PC (Well, im a stoneage guy :-)) ).

I got my version from:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/meshlab/

maybe its on github also.

Greetings
