Hey,

I started the tutorial for A8 and got the first problem.
The view windows freezes very often. (Windows 7)
I searched in the forum and found a trick, switching "Video out" in the preferences.
But when I switch again to the first video out, there is an error.
"Can't Initialize the GXL Object"

Is there a way to fix this?
Seems to be the Gxl2BasDX9B.dll

Edit: It seems the problem occurs everytime, when I switch to another 3D Application and back to the desktop grin

Greets

The Gxl2BasDX9B.dll is the correct version for Windows 7 and above.

If the views freeze even though you've selected Gxl2BasDX9B.dll, possibly something with your video drivers is wrong. Try updating the drivers from the manufacturer's website.

I have the latest drivers and I never had any problems with them ^^
I7 3930k, 8GB RAM and AMD R9 390.

The "B" version was used as default.
I will have an eye on it.
I just noticed it, while switching from a game back to the desktop.
I guess WED don't like it, when you switch trough a fullscreen game and WED. grin

Thanks for the answer!

This is correct, the viewports get lost when you play a game in fullscreen mode (or some other fullscreen interaction happens). Normally I play all my games in windowed/ borderless fullscreen, then the viewports obviously survive it. I think it's bad practice to not have that option in your game (generally speaking).
Btw. in WED it's sufficient to just reload the current level, MED needs a full restart.

Alright, well now I know the problem laugh
I'll just let the game run in window mode.
Most of the time I use GS anyway, without running anything in the background grin

Thanks!
