The lit part of the Truth
Hello

I have been downloading some models. Some of them do have A LOT of polygons (VERY VERY HIGH-POLY). I once downloaded a bed model of 50 MB size!

So, is there any tool that can decrease the quality (no. of faces) of a model?

Honestly (as far as i know), there is no great solution for that, but you can try Mdl reducer. Pro version also have option for reducing number of polygons.

it depends on what format you have...

3dsmax has a polygon reducer that works fine.

Milkshape also has a polygon reducer which is imo a bit better that of MED (pro license only feature)

there are other free tools I have not tested yet, probably in Blender?, http://www.atangeo.com/, http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/

I mean f.i. MDL reducer requires that models are converted from MDL7 to MDL5. Re-saving the model as MDL5 makes skins problem. For example, the bed model I mentioned has 3 different skins ,each is mapped onto some faces. When I re-save it as MDL5, only one of these three skins is mapped on ALL faces.

I know Iglarion was the one who told me about it ,but just to make stuff more clear.

It was also my fault 'cause I forgot to mention I want a free software. Milkshap 3D didn't work perfectly for me besides the other stuff.

Btw. I have Blender and used to have 3Ds Max. Does Blender have something like that?
