Can someone please tell me if the A6 Template class .OBJECT, climbing ladders really works?
I have placed two (mdl)blocks, added the start and finish actions, entered the exit 'Z' value, but nothing happens!
I have tried fiddling with all the different setting, but to no effect.
If it works (and it should) could someone please run me through how to set it up?
I have been nearly a week now trying to 'climbe', and am losing my hair! David

it does. check AUM 60 for the tut on how to use it. it took me a little while to get it to work because i didnt set up my level properly, but it works great when you tune it just right.

Thanks Blink, thanks for reply. I have checked out AUM60, it shows how to fix a blinking light. I have no problem with that! My problem is that I can't get the ladder script to work. I have tried 'tweeking' all the settings but to no avail. Do you know of any data which handles just ladders? There is nothing in the manual or on wiki or the forum - at least I can't find it!
What I want to do is have the player come out of an ice cave, where he is confronted by a 6 meter wall of ice with a ladder leaning up against it. If he 'touches' the ladder(the trigger), he climbes up to the ledge above. Have also worked out a nice little touch, when the ladder is 'touched', a small drift of powdered snow falls down from all the rungs.
Sorry to be such a pain, David

Many thanks Blink, I went throught the aums looking for 'climbing', but must have missed 63 - well done you for helping. It works just fine, except where you have to put in the 'x' value for moving off the top of the ladder - I put in the value, build, save etc, but it won't stay put!! when I look at the value, it has gone back to '0'. Must be a fault in my copy of the prog. Once again, many thanks, David.
PS Where are you in USA? We went to California back in '86 - LOVED IT! Yosimite blew me away! (still floating!)

Hi Blink, Thanks for your reply. Saddly, never been to the east coast. I have had a look at the action of 'climbing' in AUM63 and runing it, and it does not do what I want - so, I have had a go at doing my own code, and it works! The player goes up the ladder a step at a time - now I have to get him to step off onto the ice ledge! (took a lot longer than I will admit to!) Thanks again for putting me onto the right trail, so to speak. If you are interested, I could send you a copy of the complete code when finished. David
