All right, enough empty promises. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjqtwGsCrgcAnd THANKS, broozar, for making the vid for me Micha edit: very good point, ex citer. I'll think about that. right now I can't think of a way to make some of the particles "melt" together less... to give it more depth... hmm... thanks...

very nice video. The explosion looks good. But something spicy is missing. I think fractal parts getting shot away by the explosion. Black bruned sharp and crispy shreds.
I think so, because until now you have only something gas material. So the contrast of material is missing. I mean we have gas like materials, fluid like materials, and hard materials. A mix of them makes the world more interesting. Like liquid and hard, gas and liquid, or hard and gas. Natural design.

Your explosions look very good! If you want to make them more realistic here some things i miss:
- in outer space there is not much fire because there is nearly no OČ (only the one from the ship). So there is nearly no smoke. I think spaceships better explode with an energy flash and a shockwave
- on earth the smoke moves up or is blown by the wind, expanding not radial and dissapear but growing randomly and vanish.
But thats just my ideas and your explosions look realy good!

it's the oxygen from the hydrocon-engines that goes up in fire i extremely love it the way it is now, can't wait to see it in a video!
Yeah, that looks really awesome! The current sprite looks less like an explosion sprite and more like a fire sprite, this works way better with this particular game.
Perhaps they should add a soft 3D or 2D explosion ring to the whole sequence, that way the actual explosion makes a tiny bit more sense. Now, the things starts burning and falls apart (which looks awesome, don't get me wrong), but we need to see a small flash and perhaps an explosion ring.
Anyways, good to see you guys are still improving this,
Cheers

thanks a lot for the kind words guys! mercuryus, I agree with you on both those points, yeah. but the O2 problem was solved by broozar ... so I'll leave it this way, i guess. your second point: do you mean that it should be the same way for my explosion? cause... right now what it does is: it moves out in all directions, randomly, when it is generated. the reason it's one big long trail is that the ship's still moving (it actually moves faster, being thrusted forward by the explosion of the engines, which are at the back of the vessel)... phemox, you're right... explosion ring... I've been holding back on that, because it's hard to make that look cool, i think. I mean, i've seen 3d explosion rings, a simple sphere with a skin on it, it never looked cool. 2d might be easier, but... i don't know, how would I make it fit with the "fire" look? do you know any example clips? thx, Micha
