I am running Game Studio Commercial 6.31.4 but have been unable to get it to build or run. Everytime I make a new level or load a conpleated level and press build, nothing happens. How do I fix this?

Nothing happens. What do you mean? You click the build button and no dialogs come up? Normally, you should see a dialogue come up with "build level", "build map entity", "update entities", and other buttons along with two sliders for calculations a >> button, and other things. If you click "okay", you'll then see another dialogue having "building fat hull" and a bunch of dots then "building narrow hull" and a bunch of dots and so on. Wait for this to say that it's completed. Once it's completed, click the okay button. Click the red exclamation point button then okay and you can then see your level. The only exception is when an error occurs during the build (warnings aren't errors).

I don't know if this will help, but you can try reinstalling game studio. Also, don't forget the extras in the file "goodies" on the 3dgs cd, they won't help with your build/execute problem but they are worth copying and pasting them into your directory. Make sure you have the system minimum requirements too for running 3dgs. If this doesn't work and you are still getting nothing when you build and execute (in other words no dialogue windows or anything) try emailing game studio support. You get 3 months with the commercial edition and they normally respond within a day or two.

I bought 3DGS back in the A5 days, so that's the only disk I have. I guess I can just re-install it and then update it to the most recent version. Should that work?

Yes, it should work, I feel safe in stating we are kinda concerned about this. Hop it works out.

I have the same problem. I am using Professional version of GS and I have reinstall more than 5 times but the problem still exists. I also try to modify the demos to see if its build and run or not but when I check I dont see my modification instead it excutes pre-build WMB file and not the one that I just made. I don't know what to do. Please Help.

Updating helps. Some older versions have bugs in them that cause this. The latest version doesn't as far as I've seen, well, just minor ones.

Ok Darkstar, you said you bought it "back when it was A5"...and you say you are trying to get 6.31.4 to run. Is that correct? If so, then that's your problem; you are trying to "update" your A5 to A6, and that isn't going to work...ever. You need to update to the latest A5 version (on the DL page; but I think there was some mention of it on the "Updates & Annoncements" forum here somewhere). If you want to use 6.31.4, you have to buy the upgrade from A5 to A6.

Now, if you have paid for your upgrade to A6, then we can try and figure out what's going on.
