I am new here and like to run separate tests (in D
emo) on Zorro and Zorro S features. My question is How can I tell which version I am running? All I have is one download that says Zorro.

If you haven't paid any money, you are running the free version of Zorro (ie not Zorro S).

But i need to do demo and not real trading. I can't just pay before I test it !! Catch 22?

I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at. You can demo trade with the free version via both existing APIs and the MT4 bridge.
