WED seems to be in close relation with Hammer Editor. They can import/export .map files (Quake or Half Life 2 maps?). Can you tell me some compatibility information, and what features are included in .map files? (handling blocks only, lightmap, or more?)
You might find best compatibility information when searching for Qoole, that's where WED originated from before it was reprogrammed. I don't know if the .map export/import is any reliable, though. It possibly cannot export everything as the native Acknex level format got new features over time.
