We had a report that a Z system traded temporarily with a higher volume than set up with the Margin slider. The reason of this could not be determined yet. A possible reason for trading with a wrong volume is clicking on a trading Zorro and accidentally hitting a position on the Margin slider, this way setting the slider to a wrong value.

Please check from time to time that Margin still has the correct value. All Z systems always enter the same trade size when the Margin slider is not moved. The size can vary between assets and algos, but can not vary from one trade to the next. If you observe a different or unusual trade volume, please notify support. The same when you have unusually negative results. The Z systems had no drawdown so far that was longer than 7..8 months. Thus, if you are not in profit after 8 months with the default settings, please check your settings and if in doubt, also notify support.

Hi jcl. Thanks for the advisory. Please clarify - is this a reported problem that has not been confirmed? Or has the problem actually been confirmed (by diag.txt or whatever that confirms a trade(s) did not match the Margin setting) and for which the cause/bug is now being sought?

FYI, my Z5 has trades of 1, 3, 4, and 5 lots - is this normal? I have, however, changed Margin at times for upgrades or reinvestment per the other thread...

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. I think you also referring to my problem. I saw trades with huge lots. Also those trades made huge profits > 800€s and then closed at -300€. But for going live this is not satisfying for me.
So I have to calculate the margin and look at every trade to see if the trade volume is fitting to the slider. *puuhhh*

Do you have no any additional advice for me and my problem. What should i do with my faulty Z12? Reinstalling Zorro and hoping the best?

greets
Sundance

PS: Does it make sense to reinstall Zorro into a new folder and restart live trading with only 1000€ and a fitting margin?

At my VPS i have also Z5 running where i can see in the top of the window (keine Rückmeldung). After some seconds it goes away and i can move the window again. Could this also disturb my Z12 which runs in another folder?

Surely we can write a python script or something to digest the trade.log file and print a report about consistency.

Yes. We could do that. Reading the log file and searching for known errors and send an email when an error occurs. Mmmmhhh. I will think about that...

Sundance: Yes, it was your session. The CSV file shows a low margin in Janurary, than a high margin until about March 30, then again a low margin. It looks as if the Margin slider had been temporarily moved. But we can not see from the file what the reason was. We're running about 20 trading Zorros since 2 years, but have not experienced any margin issues, except of course when the slider was intentionally moved.

Maybe we can learn more when other people report the same issue - that's why I opened the thread here.

Thus, we can not give a real recommendation at this point. It could be an accidental, unnoticed click on the slider - in that case it was a unique problem and won't happen again. Anyway reinstalling Zorro would not help here.

Two suggestions. For making sure that Margin is not accidentally set to a high value, you can limit the margin in the .ini file. Of course this has the disadvantage that you have to stop and restart when you want to increase the margin.

Second suggestion: Use Excel to look into a copy of the .csv file from time to time. You can do that while trading. Check the "Lots" column. All trades of the same type should have about the same number of lots. If there is a huge difference although you have not moved the Margin slider, something is wrong.

I forgot to mention: The "(keine Rückmeldung)" message is normal especially when trading with MT4. It happens when MT4 needs a long time to respond.

Hmmm... Could this be a version differences/upgrade issue? The timeframe jcl describes is about the timeframe of 1.20...

I will do as you recommend jcl.
I also had the same idea as you of setting the max value in the ini. ☺
Oh boy. It will take some time from recovering. ..

But Ddlv's values give me a little hope back.

see you ...
