Hi,

Tesseract just got released two days ago, which is an open source shooter based on the recent Cube 2: Sauberbraten code:

http://tesseract.gg/ and http://sauerbraten.org/

It comes with a nice ingame Level Editor that allows you to change the structures on the fly while playing.

Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.

I really love this engine...
It gives the users so much power while sustaining a high quality level design.
The changes they made to the Cube 2 engine are great, can't wait to get my hands on this wink

yeah me too

the only thing I didn't like at sauerbraten was the movement speed grin
I love fast shooters (f.e. unreal tournament) but the movement speed in Cube 2 games is too fast for my taste

Haha yeah, it IS a fast paced shooter.

But i'm currently thinking about taking the Tesseract engine for a new kind of "MMO". If it works it would be really cool, if not, i have to try Unity grin

Wow that looks really cool O_O
The realtime global illumination looks great, and I wonder how the level editing works. It almost looks like it's somewhat voxel based?

I downloaded it and tried it out.

It's minimal but solid, I like it. The shading seems to be good aswell, especially the simple but clever global illumination (although I don't like their SSAO).

Also the movement isn't as fast as it was in sauerbraten (if I remember it right).
It still is pretty fast but feels comfortable to me.

edit: performance is suprisingly good, even though I'm playing on highest settings and every light casts shadows laugh
fps are always > 120
