Hi everyone,

I don't know if this is the right forum to make this question, but: Is there any way to archive hi-quality texture rendering with 3d game studio. I've try textures as large as 1024x1024 and still not good enough.

Can anyone share a tip?

Thank you in advance.

1024² not good enough for what? 1024² should be more than enough for an good quality!
For example, i use one 2048² Texture for more than 6 Objects ( 6 different Textures in this file) and the quality is good enough.
Do you used an NRM Shader with your Textures? This will have an sharpening effect on the Object.

regards Sebastian

Hm, I have got 25 weapons in my game, if I would use 2048^2 textures in tga, my game would simply lag on 20 fps grin
They are dds in mostly 1024^2 because the quality difference isnt that high, but the perfomance difference is!

Thank you for your replies. rvL_eXile, sorry to ask but what's NRM Shader? I've try the shader library that comes with 3d game studio by default without good success.
My textures are mostly 1024^2 but they look blurry. I'm still figuring out what could be the reason, maybe my video card?

tga or dds for both transparent and non-transparent textures.

NRM = Normalmapping Shader
Where do you get your Textures from?
I use CGTextures.com with premium account to gett all tilable Textures in an higher Size.

I'm using .tga only, cuz dds is a bit blurry but have an smaller File Size than tga.

Regards Sebastian

Check out the 3DGamestudio manual on the various different image formats. If I remember correctly, BMP and JPEG are not recommended formats; use TGA for high quality textures or DDS for mid quality textures.
