Brand new to Game Studio but I seem to have a problem with the World Editor in my Windows 8 Installation. I have installed GS, using Win XP Service Pack 3 (I believe) compatibility and everything [/i]seems[i] OK but when I try to compile a level in WED, the level build dialog fails to appear. I have tried installing it to a non-default directory but it makes no difference - the level compiler will not work.

To check this, I did a similar installation on my Windows 7 laptop. No problems. It all worked fine.

Has anyone else seen this issue in Windows 8?

I'd be grateful for any feedback.

go to the gamestudio installation folder, then start "wwmp2wmb.exe".
As far as i remember, a error message will pop up and tell you which DLLs are missing. You can then download them and it will work

Good steer, MasterQ32. I did that and it gave me the answer - missing D3XD9_32.dll. Great pity that the WED editor cannot pass that information on. You see nothing in WED - no error dialog, no status bar update. It just doesn't compile.

Anyway, it's working now. Many thanks for your help.
