Well, i find it would be good for 3D artists to have some special menu in WED :
- they select what they need like :
1) FPS Camera
2) Third person camera
3) FPS controls
4) Third person controls
2) simple NPC follow attack
etc ...
Each template would be in a it's own sub directory inside a special directory (for example TEMPLATES_IMPORT).
In the directory you could find one file code and if it needs it , all it's ressources (sound , bitmap, models).
So when the user click after selecting the templates he needs , the needed sub directories would just be copied to the project directory and it would generate the good import lines in the main code file of the project.
In fact this would be some library of templates ready to import and use , perhaps generated at WED startup that would read a special directory containing all sub directories and would create a list (caus anyone could include any templates in that special folder).
For example someone could import some of these templates to the project:
Third person template only
Third person template and character
ennemmy fight with bow
ennemy pursue and fight close
2.5D ennemy pursue and fight close
2.5D camera and player
sky day/night manager with ressources
etc ...
And he would have just to call the right code or attach actions to it's models.
-------------
For drag and drop, WED don't allow that for the moment, so we can forget it.
But that library system would change a lot the workflow, specially for non coders or for people wanting to try and prototype things quickly without coding a lot or seraching for code each time.
Once you have created your sub folders with right templates you just keep them for your future projects.
