Assault! is a Multiplayer 4VS4 Third Person Shooter. You will take place on the battlefield as a Marine Soldier or Resistance Soldier, your goal is to eliminate the other team.

Important Issues

-If you get an error regarding "msvcr100.dll", install the Microsoft C++ 2010 Redist Kit and delete that file from the Assault\data folder.
-If your router does not support UPnP and you want to host a internet game, you will have to open manually port 7359 with your local IP.
-In order to join a LAN game, you won't be able to join it directly via server list. Instead use "Join via IP" and enter the local IP of the PC you want to play with.

New Features in V0.82

-New Players models, now each player will be different.
-Added two ammo boxes in each map, get near them to reload your ammo.
-Now you can re-spawn while the round is running and you will appear on different points of the map.
-Team kills won't give you money anymore.
-Added options to select start money, maximum players, time limit and score limit to end the round, which you can set before selecting level.
-Added an animation when you throw a grenade.
-Added two new weapons: W249 (a light machine gun) and W4A1 (a carabine).
-Fixed a bug when entering another server without exiting the game.
-Now a message will appear when you start a server and your router doesn't support UPnP.
-Recoil system improved.
-Jumping is now more smooth.
-Fixed a bug in server list.
-Fixed bullet holes bug when hitting the car in DM_garages.
-Now aiming has priority over running, this means you can zoom while running and player will start walking automatically.

New Features in V0.81

-Added a server list system and automatic port forwarding with UPnP. This way you can open games just doing a click and your game will appear on server list and other players will be able to join.
-Now you can duck/stand up faster.
-When snipering, if you crawl the "breathing-amplitude" is reduced and you can aim easily.
-Crosshair system improved
-Now you get more precission while aiming with mouse right button in auto-fire weapons.
-AS_Ship map bugs fixed
-Player and Camera movement improved for more smoothing
-Crashed players are now removed automatically
-Gravity fixed

New Features in V0.80

-Shotgun Reload Fixed
-Crawling added
-AS_Ship map added
-HitBox system improved (you will make different damage on different body parts)
-Now you can switch weapon while reloading
-W-16 Cartridge changed to a curved one
-Now you get four clips instead of three each round
-Dynamic Shadows for Players
-Grenades explode in less time
-Using now Shade-C Volumetric Light Rays
-Now you can see you Team members names above his head.
-You will also be able to toggle fire mode between Full-auto and Semi-automatic mode in weapons which have it available.

-Added Admin controls to prevent ghost players and round crashes
-Now you get 1000$ if your team wins the round.

-Added money system to buy weapons
-If you survived last round and you don't buy a new weapon, you will save your last weapon, if you died last round and you don't buy a new weapon you will appear with the uzi as default
-Added a info panel to show who killed whom and with what weapon
-Added bullet traces
-Now you don't have to enter server's ip always you want to play, instead I'm using an dyndns host (assault.dyndns.org) and the server id is saved in settings panel, which you can change to your friend's ip if you want to play a game in another server.

I haven't tried it (I don't have the time, still), but I thought I'd offer a suggestion regarding this:

I'm having the same problems with KarBOOM, obviously, and am bothered by the idea that many users will probably try it, see the crash, and give up without ever investigating it. This is even more of a waste since most players will probably never attempt to host a game.

So in my next version I'm going to have another small application in the same folder for opening ports, which my game can call and use to open ports by command line arguments. If there is a crash, it's in the external program, and it'll only happen when players try to host instead of when they first start up the game. Perhaps it's worth trying that yourself.

something funny about msvcr100.dll, if i publis from my desktop pc, it does not ask for msvcr100 on other computers. But if i publish from my laptop it asks for the dll on other pcs.

Some screenshots of the finished new map, which It's called AS_Warehouse, a kind of old industrial zone. It will be the biggest map of the game.

Nice work on some of those part. But I think the streets still look way too empty. Also, the ground is too bright in comparison to the walls, and on the first screen the cut between gravel and pavement is too sudden.

I really like the last 2 screens though grin

In design, they look like they'll work very well. Lots of cover, but not too much cover... looking forward to trying it out!

thanks for you comments. I've added decals on the road so it doesn't look so empty, but I don't know what more I could add. I've also lowered bloom and tried to hide a bit the transition between gravel and pavement.

What do you think?

you can do alot with decals if youre smart, manhole covers, paper, cracks, i think the scene just lacks props but i think i know your position with art assets

There's a lot that can be done to fill streets or something, try to add ordinary stuff like trash, papers etc. These little details we don't even care about until they are missing. Look around at your hometown's streets how they look, what they're filled with.

yeah, it doesnt need to be that overdone, but some street signs, lamp posts... something to make it look like it was really used for something.
