today i would like to introduce my new project www.galaxytrader.de. The game is intended to mix elements of the great "freelancer" with parts of the "X-Series" and will combine fighting, trading, missions and story parts.

It was a hard decission to pause my other project (www.darkmountain.de) but creating a role play game as a one person team is nearly impossible while getting a space game done is much easier.

The screens and the movie show the current project stage which is absolutely focused on the gameplay and mechanics while the graphic effects must be enhanced in a later step (e.g. use of shaders).

But even a space game is still a lot of work and therefore i would ask for help in the following areas:

- explosion particle effect
- laser beam effect
- hitting shield effect
- particle? effect for the express travel

any help would be highly appreciated.

i dont see shy you need help, they look great so far but even so, i know what its like to be in need of help so i will try in w/e way i can smile

Just one question though. Is your ships "control panel" or dashboard, is it
a panel/image, or a 3d model?

thanks for your comments. i am really willed to finish my first game after
many years with gamestudio and with this type of game it is realistic.

@cowabanga - i tried easy particle but even using this tool it is not easy to create good looking particle effects. In addition i use lite-c which behaves different.

@darkinferno - at the moment i really need help with particle effects. The laser beam, the explosion and the express gate effect is created by myself. The effect used on the engine was a contribution from the forum. There you can easily see the difference.

So any help on the mentioned topics is warmly welcome!

@EvilSOB - The control panel is a 3d model. But i am playing around with panels and it looks not much different.

Thanks. I was thinking 3D model for a concept of mine, to react and shadow
based on interior "cabin lights" and external-to-cabin light sources.

If I can get mine looking as good as yours I'll be very happy...

I'd love to help, but my particle skills is non-existant. Sorry.
