He is really good, I especially like the skull. the problem with traditional artists is that a lot of them dont know what to do when you put a computer in front of them. grin I took an art class last year with a bunch of talented artsist but a lot of them were useless for games. Im not saying your artist is like this, this artist does good and if he can do game assets then you have a nice team member. smile

I have worked with several artist in a gamecompany, of which
most of them made really striking (large scale) 2D Art (on paper or
photoshop).

But when it came to small detailed pixedgraphics to fit
GUI, characters and 2D gameelements, the output
looked not nearly as good.
(mobile games)

Maby only few Artists can put their creativity and skill
to technically fitting art.
