Ok, so after a long time since my last thread here is the new course i am planning on doing.

The tutor teaching it says it is more for an artist than a programmer and that is what i want.

What do you guys think of it,http://www.gre.ac.uk/courses/ug/mmd/gg64

P.s. i am planning on taking a gap/sandwich year so i will get some work experience in the industry.

Have you already applied through UCAS and deferred a year or are you planning on applying fresh next year?

If you have enough time to think about it (applying next year), I'd say the best thing to do is to have a walk around a lot of the universities to see if you like the university and the area.. then I'd focus on the course because there are a lot of universities that will offer a similar choice (computer related degrees are quite common among a lot of universities).

Also, if you go to a course related open day (you may have to go for an interview at some universities when you apply) they'll give you a lot of info and the opportunity to find out exactly what the course has to offer (which is good when there are a lot of very similar degrees).. I wouldn't necessarily rely only on what your tutor has told you because at the end of the day it's going to be you taking the course and they may well not have studied it themselves (that's not to say they're totally wrong, but you should try and make your own decisions).

Are you planning on staying local to home or moving away by the way? smile

When i said the tutor i meant the tutor at the university taking the course wink

I have applied for this year (without deffered entry) and will start in sept/oct , all that is left is to choose my course.

I am staying at home ( i have my own place already ) and will be commuting to London each day i am in (4 days a week)

I'm slightly confused, how can you have applied if you haven't picked your course? Surely you have to apply to get on a specific course.. :S

I understand what you're saying (we've already had some people make some really strange changes; like physics -> archaeology. :S).

You should look at the job prospects at the end of it, but also whether you're going to enjoy it or not. - It's often a decision between the two for a lot of people.. Some people enjoy doing something that's not necessarily going to guarantee them a job at the end of it, but it's worth it because it means they're less likely to give up because they enjoy what they're doing.

If you have the enthusiasm and the right work ethic I'm sure you'll end up where you want to be. - Beware though that a lot of people change their mind on a career as they get older, so something you want to do now, you may not enjoy in the future, so maybe a more general course would benefit you.

It's always going to be a decision that you have to make on your own though and so you may not necessarily agree on what people say.. At the end of the day if you change your mind soon enough, it's usually quite easy to change from one course to another within a department/university.. just try and get somewhere in the right area first off.. If your choices are so varied, maybe you're not 100% sure what you want to do..

I hope this helps.
