How is this different from the countless other first time game developers that come on the boards, post to the wrong forum, and ask for a free team? Just because he's making a Christian game it's somehow worse?

Honestly people, this reflects real poorly on this community if we choose to attack this post on the basis of it's religious message instead of it's game content.

(Joozey, yes, that's Habbo. Habbo is also the worlds largest Virtual World, larger than WoW... just not as flashy... so to the people in the know, it's a good reference point )

I'm not flaming specifically the religious content, but the way he represents digichristworks to us. It's clearly one leader that searches a hurd of people that will follow him, and obey him on his commands. And he wants it all without returning anything but promisses that God will reward his followers. Unlike regular newbs asking the same, this is manipulatively written, and I find that close to disturbing.

Take away the religious rhetoric and he's just another MMOG making noob. I don't find this any more disturbing than the kiddies that come online and say "we will be better than WOW", "No pay, but royalties if we get published", or "I'm making a game where you can do anything, anytime, anywhere!"

But these other teams aren't usually asking for equipment donations. And they don't usually demand that people fall under the "spiritual authority" of the CEO, either.

Adding the religious rhetoric to the "newbie gamedev leader" makes the disturbing, IMO. Especially when, as Dan said, the focus on financial support is present. These factors indicate that he knows exactly what he's talking about, unlike the common newbie.

Dan, I don't condemn him for spiritual authority. After all, if I'm making a game about (subject x), it would be preferable to have people on the team that understand (subject x) and not people that hate (subject x). I'm making a game about Science... thus I want people that share my scientific mindset... ie no creationists. He is rather the opposite.

But your point is taken Joozey; he could be abusing the beliefs of others to make his game. But ironically, those exact people won't see it as abuse as it's under the guise of "god". Insidious to us perhaps, but like Eurythmics said "some of them want to use you; some of them want to be used by you".
