"...what genre the game is"

This is an important information in business, without a NDA you wonīt get any information about the genre.
At least when it comes to a professional project.
Take it or leave it. wink

It was only an opinion, and you took that quote out of context, if you want to be like that it's your choice, although lot's of people have already said that they also believe it would be better to post some information, take it how you want, but we are all allowed to express our opinions.

Quote:

"...what genre the game is"

If you really think that telling people the genre will affect sales or anything like that , you must be dilludedas knowing the genre does not give any of the story away, or anything that can be stolen.

This behavior is just a fact in business. Not an opinion.
There are exceptions of course, but exceptions donīt reflect the standard.

"I never said tell the whole story, but he hasnt even said what genre the game is."

Itīs just offending to dictate such "peanuts" to a possible customer. Insteat you should be curious about his project.

To often possible customers are offended whe they read such posts. They even donīt get any serious answers!

If you are the only person that answers, it could be the beginning of a very good business.
If I had the time, I would ask him for further information.

Btw.: I make my life from such "vague" jobposts. wink

As Iīve said. Itīs a choice.
And itīs offending to critizize a possible customer, because he made just a choice.

(sigh) The best fit is simulation however no game of the type I am making has been done before and putting it in one genre gives a false impression. To state it plainly this is a very original never been done before idea and very little can be described without giving away the idea.

There is actually vital information for a graphic artist. The genre and the name of the main character...is information I don't need. But information about the scope/size of the project are vital for me to decide if I can commit to a project or not.
In order to assess if I can give it a go, I would have to know
what and how much is expected of me. Will I be working on a single level demo ? Or maybe a small-medium sized game ? 2D or 3D, level design, character modeling, textures, animation...Maybe all of it. I can't blindly commit to a project. Size of a project does matter, specially if you are not getting paid on a monthly basis for that specific project.
We exchanged emails, but before I could agree I wanted to know these informations...But the correspondence ended there.
Which is quiet unfortunate, I was fairly interested.

It's possible that my e-mailed reply didn't go through for some reason. When you stated that you wanted to be paid via paypal that raised some pretty red flags to me. But I do think you have alot of talent.

Why would paypal raise red flags?
