im pretty sure max does not have an import function for .mdl files, your better off using a program like milkshape which is about $25 i think i use softimage xsi 6.
if you goto the tools thread in the gstudio forums there is a topic called: The Starving Developers QuickstartGuide 09/07/08
the topic as most of the alternatives to gmax.

Well that was the only program I found wc3 model export for^^ so i thought: maybe there is a way to get my models from a editor i am used to.

So I have to write an own plugin for mdl2mdl^^ (thats maybe the best way...)

by default you can import *.3ds and *.dxf files to gmax.

The problem with the MEDs 3ds export is, that it doesn't save the skin mapping( and saves every frame in a new model...)

your better off learning a 3d model program that does everything you need to use gstudio. maybe look at some alternatives to gmax.
or goto the gmax forums if there is one and ask the same question there, as they mabe able to help.

Hey Scorpion,
I'm having the same problem. MED allows you to export the skin uv map as a .txt file, but you can't import that in gmax either...

If you could convert the .txt file produced by MED into a .uvw file used y gmax, maybe it could work.

I'm still trying to find out how, so if you do first, let me know...

i do not think gmax is the best pogram to use for what u need to do, maybe import it into a program like biturn or another conversion program or maybe milkshape will do it, but to be honest learn a program that does all the functions u need.
