Does anyone know how to import models from different formats? Like .max and .obj

In MED File --> Import

You can import
.x
.obj
.3ds

Nothing imports from Max as it is kind of its own format. I have max and export it to .x or .3ds a format that MED can read.

I don't know about the other formats, but if you import 3ds to MED,
it always creates a seam of vertices that unweld.

It's not always noticeable though. Whenever I import 3ds, the FIRST thing I do
is select all the vertices (the whole model) and click the 'merge' button.

This will fix it, and you'll see which vertices were effected.
I also don't know if this continues to be a problem with A7 or not.

If the model is too small or some vertices are too close together and they merge
together in places you don't want them to, just scale the whole model larger first so it only affects the crucial vertices.

I try export some sample model in tS7.6, but MED X importer is fail to import the model correctly.

I tried workspace and ts6 exporter but MED can't import them.

.x, and .fbx support bones animations, not sure about the others but most of them don't.

I've had much better luck with .fbx, though if there's something better...

X is more a bundle of derivates than a file format. Modelside X cannot be proper read from MED. Too old. Workspace X cannot be proper read from MED, too new. The DeclData blocks ...

I use Ultimate Unwrap 3D as the converter to get my stuff out of tS and into MED. From Workspace X or Collada to UU3D. And from there as FBX to MED. Works great. But UU3D costs a few bucks smile

If you use .x you have to open the Texture in Manage Skin again then everybody should work fine.

I rather to use .FBX it bakes the textures on the model and also export animations. I never have problems with fbx
