Using Max and Maya maybe, but it is a pain to export any file format to DXStudio from MilkShape or Fragmotion

Many DX members complain about this issue, go through the import \ export forum

I tried DX Studio about a year ago and I did find it a little slow. If this has now been addressed then it may be worth checking out again.

Alberto - i dont use max or maya, and to actually export my models into dx studio, i use a variety of programs successfully, including Fragmotion, Ultimate Unwrap 3d, Softimage XSI, Hexagon 2, and the list goes on.

As to slowness of the engine, i totally disagree, and i have setup whole levels full of medieval buildings, dynamic lighting, all with normal maps with amazing speed and performance.

Also setting up lighting and normal maps are a breeze, and now, all this can be scene in realtime as objects are placed in the editor, rather than having to wait for a build.

I dont know what to tell you

For me it is very hard to import any type of file
As I said , I am not the only one to face this problem, go through their forum

I must admit that it may depend on the settings
Recently,a member explained how to upload an .x file exported from Fragmotion
I will give it a try
In my case Fragmotion alwayes crashes the system

In any case maybe the import module is not so bad as I think but for sure it is quite fragile

I have never had a problem with 3dgs , using the same models

Milkshape. Export to 3ds. Bring the mesh into DX Studio. RMB on the model and Edit Materials. Add the material file and there it is. If you want to bring in .x files use the DirectX JT toward the bottom of the export list.

3DS Max users we have a wonderful pipeline. In 3DS Max it is File -- export -- .dxmesh and if you have animated models use the Panda .x exporter as the animations will not work with the .dxmesh exporter.
