how about an automatic update tool for the engine files (of course deactivatable} this could also then regularily dispatch example files, update notes or other goodies
Gamestudio it totally unsuited for automatic updates, it's not like Word or so where updates only fix bugs. Gamestudio updates can contain big changes that no one wants to get automatically behind his back.
Development software like VC++ and also Gamestudio should not have automatic updates.
If the updater would be designed like Windows Update (e.g. like in the example above) the user could decide what kinds of updates it should download / install and whether or not this should happen automatically. Modern auto updaters are more like assistants that help you to keep the software up to date - not that force you to download them.
