Netherlands forbids Iranians from studying nuclear science The law applies "only for very specific fields of science", agrees Maarten van der Sanden, a spokesman for the Delft University of Technology. "We hope that all nationalities will still subscribe to our courses." I sure hope not, you idiot! I wouldn't be surprised if we boycott your ass for such a racist, nationalistic, wholly unfair take on science. This whole law was invented not for racism purposes or even foreign policy to please the US by excluding Iranians or something, but only to save face / make up earlier screw-ups. For example, some of our universities and our professors made it possible for India to get entire blueprints and extensive knowledge of nuclear bombs, which were later sold to various countries over the world. I don't think we can stop the study of nuclear science by Iranian people and we should not, if only because not every Iranian is a fatalistic, nationalistic fool like Ahmadinejad... but it's pretty obvious that Dutch universities do not want to be responsible for the 'creation' of yet another nuclear power. hehehee, our politics is full of smartypants and racists, you'd be surprised with all the other laws they try to get through ^^. I don't disagree with you as far as certain laws go and the bad level and quality of our politicians / policies, but I don't think there's a single racist amongst our politicians... not even Wilders.

but I don't think there's a single racist amongst our politicians... not even Wilders. Wilders, Verdonk, Fortuyn, their ideas help solving the country's problems while some people have to suffer the consequences. Their ideas are not separating good from evil, they are meant to get rid of evil and take the consequences for granted. Of course, it's just where you draw the line of racism.

You are right, but it has little to do with drawing lines about a pretty clear definition. Funny thing is that Wilders, Verdonk and Fortuyn all are pretty careful about what they say and never will say or have said things that are racist ideas, nor do they really believe in such ultra-right (nazi?) nonsense if you ask me. They are/were pretty nationalistic though, but that's obviously not the same as being racist. It always sounds a bit wrong the way people often describe these kind of politics, but in reality there is not all that much wrong with 'defending' a nation's own internal culture/structure/politics and so on by making immigration laws. The thing I am worried about is that a lot of the free speech surrounding this topic is pretty damn Islamophobic in nature, which makes little sense in my opinion as most Muslims in our country are actually modern, very moderate when it comes to there religion and all in all just great people. The psychological feeling of 'living next to terrorists' often gets abused when the topic of immigration is concerned.

Very interesting about the blueprints and basically trying to save face. And also what you say about Iranians is in the article: "I am against Iranian policy and ideology; that is why I live in the Netherlands," said one Iranian-born nuclear physicist
