Hi,
just a quick question.

If I want the walls of my level to become semi-transparent when the hero is behind them - I assume I'll have to use models for the walls or not?

Or is it then better to make the hero render above the wall somehow?

And if that's the case, how would I handle having all other objects close to the hero ALSO show up through the walls?

Ï'd just like to get some ideas on this subject.

Thanks,
cartoon_baboon

you can achieve this affect by tracing between the camera and the player, if there are any object, eg walls, then write a function to make them transparent.

Look up c_trace, i'm assuming that you are making a 3rd person game.

Thanks.

yeah the game is going to be top down(ish). OK well I guess models are the way to go. Going to have to get the second uv plugin then, else it'll end up looking pretty plain.
