Maybe, I don't know, I don't try to use templates in game yet. Maybe I wrong, but as I can see, they use some code from templates in their Intense PathFinding example.

In fact it depends on the game you want to do !
you can make your own AI.

What lacks in lot of demos FPS made by people here :
the behaviour of ennemies is flat , without any life.

where are the ennemies that can hide , rool on the floor
to try avoid some shoots , or twist their body/head to make you more hard to hit them.
And ennemies that don"t shoot you precisely each time they shoot : ) , ennemies needing reloading or cover !
Some good examples :
Perfect Dark on N64 , Drake fortune on PS3 etc ...

Irs' not complicated to program more life like reactions (with some random behaviour why not)

Even lot of scripted paths/ennemies locations , by using that
sort of beahviour and with some random ones (random positions also) we could have lot better indies FPS smile

No offense to Doug but comparing the GS template to Intense X is hardly a comparison at all. I have never seen a fun game made with the temps, and many have tried. In my opinion the only thing the temps would possibly be good for is prototyping (maybe) and perhaps a virtual art museum or something similar. The AI with the temps is non-existent, the baddies simply shoot and walk towards you, no challenge.

With Intense X I've already played a fun game with it so I know that's possible. The AI is better than most what I've seen most major commercial shooters. Of course most new shooters simply suck straight up. lol

I have compared examples made with templates and Intense X, I can see the difference now. Thanks for reply.

Sorry if I sounded harsh. You rarely come across such a fine product. I played with FPS creator for the longest time and even that is really junk in comparison. I mean there's no hands on the guns, the models suck, and the people on their message board will laugh at you if you don't code your own AI as the default AI sucks, what the hell?

The only reason I don't own this product is because I don't want to buy A7. I'm investing a lot of money into another project and I'm poor as it is lol. If I were to buy it I'd get it just for the damned AI! lol

when the team vs team feature will be available? I still love the first quake when the monsters fought each others.

FoxZero, thanks for the thumbs up. The FPS creator was actually one of the first things that pushed me into making IX. I loved the drag and drop system for developing but their resulting games seriously lacked quality. A7 is a much better and more flexible engine than the one they use in FPS Creator so if there was a way to develop games more rapidly with it that would be a winning combination. I think Intense X and those new in-game editors that people in these forums are coming up with are a step in that direction.

Mondivirtuali, that would be Silver. All features from silver are already done and you can already play a game produced by Platinum from here, but the extra little stuff I need to do before I can start pumping up versions is proving much more challenging than I was bargaining for.. The main things that slow me down is the WED panels, documentation and making sure that someone using Copper could later upgrade his project to Silver without a hitch and so on..

As an update, I'm releasing Copper 0.9.5 in the next few days. You can find the post about it here.

Cheers,
Aris
