Tablut Online

Tablut Online is nearing completion so we are posting some updated information for those interested. An updated website is available at Tablut Online . The site includes info about the game, a number of screenshots, and 3 downloadable game videos.

We are also asking if anybody is interested in beta testing. A form is available at Tester form or you can email directly betatest@tablutonline.com or info@tablutonline.com .

What is Tablut?

Tablut is a variation of an ancient and mysterious board game, called hnefatafl or tafl. Although tafl was first played hundreds of years ago by the Vikings, many civilizations throughout history have played variations of the game; nonetheless, all versions share common characteristics.

Even though the tafl games predate chess by centuries their principles are very similar. Two players compete on a square game board; one player controls the king’s army, the other, the invading army. The goal is simple: the king must be safely moved to a corner space on the board in order to escape the invasion. On the other hand, the invading army must capture the king by surrounding him on four sides.

The game pieces are moved vertically or horizontally across the game board, similar to the rook in chess. A piece is captured when it is surrounded by enemy pieces on two apposing sides.

Looks nice, espacialy the panels, charakters and the gameboard. Some world-textures would need more detail or better scaling. But nevertheless...it's realy great artwork!

The idea is absolute great. I tested the tutorial: 1. The model over the game covers an important part of the game. I often can't see the stones I have to move, so I was not able to finish the tutorial. 2. I'd allow players to go back steps of the tutorial. 3. I'd allow players to move the advising tutorial panels by moving the mouse while pressing left key or something like that. 4. If I "window" the app the window icon on the right upper corner has to be changed to a fullscreen icon vice versa. 5. There a some little gramma bugs in the tutorial.

Summa summarum real great stuff!!! Go on!!!

PS: Prolongate the beta test time up to 3 weeks or more, so I have to enjoy the game and naturally I wanna get a pro of this game .

Don't take the cake to the party.

I donīt want to join all the time forums. How about a guest book?

I had one time a bug: I had moved my King from the Centerfield. When it was my turn I selected the King. Then I wanted to select a different unit, but the unit was on the same line as the King, and the King moved into my Unit. The King even moved over the center field which he had left before (I think itīs not possible to move over/on the centerfield again). I thought the unit was lost. But in my next turn I moved the King away and my Warrior was still there. In the enemies turn the enemy moved through that unit. After his turn I took the unit and moved and it wasnīt passable anymore.

Tablut Online is available for purchase now directly through Tablut Online before becoming available on the publishers' sites. The full version includes all of the game variations, game boards, prizes, and characters that are locked in the demo. The free demo is also available as well.
