That's a real nice cover Realspwan, I think I will ask Xing Interactive if they will send me a high rez jpeg photo of my cover as all I have is the link to the low rez photo. Then maybe I can have a large photo made at the photo shop and frame it.

Here's an online discussion between several developers and Xing's Alex DeVries. You can read both sides here and make up your mind.

Best of luck to you guys

Searching the www.gamedev.net forums you will find a lot of posts similar to this one regarding Alex de Vries. Search using his name or his old company name Crystal Interactive. Not all the posts are negative but it seemed as if most of them were.

Quote:

I personally worked with Crystal Interactive Inc (www.crystal-interactive.com). Where Alex de Vries worked as CEO. Any new developer should know that they were thieves, con artists and probably still are.

Alex has left the company (Crystal) with most of the people and formed a new one called Xing Interactive (www.xinginteractive.com). I had chance to read his explanation about things that took place in Crystal. He said that he was “honest” but he couldn’t go over Riza Rachman (owner of Crystal) decisions and that’s the reason he left with people and formed Xing.

This is not true, he lied me about publishing dates, contracts, licensing, box design etc. Many other developers that were contacted by me confirmed that they were not paying them royalties, telling them that there are no sold units, but people emailed them for support?! And so on… some people canceled the contract and Crystal continued to sell, paying them nothing, saying that they have no right for termination – again paying them nothing.

Xing is the same bunch of people minus Riza Rachman. Crystal has bankrupt but the same “team” continue to function.

My advice is to avoid them, if you already work with them ask for every single invoice, and report in written. Don’t believe them. Search Internet for more (search for Crystal, forums, google etc.), they are the same people just with new name.

I am not publisher just developer who learned the dark side of game publishing through them. I can’t say my name or game that was in their hands because of confidentiality clause of the contract. But check the Internet - all those people didn’t write in forums for nothing, or simply think that I am frustrated fool and that Crystal/Xing rulez. You will learn on your skin. Real nightmare.

I know for a fact that Viper Byte (if you remember Winthorpe's Mansion - one of the first titles published using A4/A5) had a bad experience with them.

Personally I have not dealt with Alex so I am just relaying the information that I have found.

I would not want to get involved with him per my research. I would recommend to anyone to do their own research and draw their own conclusions.
