Heya,
yesteray i went to the cinema and watched Sweeney Todd. Tim Burton is my Idol and this movie was awesome. It has everything i like - dark humor, musical and crazyness. I'm also very glad that they kept the songs in english in the german movie, and just display lyrics (though they where shown too fast and its not that hard to understand the lyrics by just listening to the actors).

I will watch it more than one time and also got the Soundtrack.

Just wanted to ask who of you also watched it yet and who liked it.

As fan, i made a small fanart of course 8D

So share your opinion about this movie with me

The first half of it was very interesting and I liked it, seemed like something original and cool. But then I realized that that's it - there will be nothing more.... and there wasn't! Sweeney just kept on slicing, Lovit kept on baking and I got bored. I think the end-half of it needed a bit more twists to keep my attention.

Not the best Johnny Depp movie I've seen and Tim Burton could've done much better!

i liked the composition of the intro, that changes from drawn art to cgi to real filmed scenes flawlessy. also, i love helena carter^^

I saw it in a sneak preview, I didn't like the singing very much, but the story is great.
And don't forget about his special chair

I don't have a homepage, for god's sake!

i saw it yesterday and i think it was "ok" till "good"
its also played as a theatrical musical at our local theatre and i missed alot of stuff from that show in the movie

the mood was fitting more to the story but less to the musical flair and i didnt enjoy the singing very much (except some particular parts where johnny depp gets a really nice voice)
but overall the singing just seemed pretty "dead" and "bored" to me, which was probably on purpose to let it fit into that grey style

i missed the funny joyful parts, especially in ms. lovett
also it was too bloody for my taste ^^"

"by the sea" was pretty cool though =)
had cool transistions and got funny (also i realized how i missed colors XD)

its to mention that i have seen the play before the movie and so already knew the whole plot
so~
i liked the play more and thats my opinion to that =)

Saw it a while back and loved it. Yeah, the singing was "dead" and yes it was done on purpose. It's a certain style and I can't remember what it's called. It's more of a talking singing style more or less.

I liked the cold style too and as a german movie site says:
Quote:

“Wer Vorurteile gegen Musicals hat und erwartet, dass hier sportliche Tanz- und Gesangsleistungen mit ungenauen und prätentiösen schauspielerischen Gesten bezahlt würden, wird eindrucksvoll eines besseren belehrt.“

Which means something like "who thinks that musicals only contain athletic dances and singing with inaccurate and pretentious gestures will be disabused".

I totally agree with that, i don't like those singing hopping bunnies on the stage. It has to fit the scene and mood of the musical IMO.
