It depends on what you are doing. You can use the SDK to add your own features to any version of 3DGameStudio. For instance, you can write your own network code (or use a 3rd party’s network code that you have licensed). This is totally legal.

You can not however modify (hack) our code to enable disabled features nor can you splice code from a higher version of 3DGameStudio into a lower one.

Hiya.

Ok, now I'm confuse. [Eek!]

I have the Commercial version right now. If I get a programmer to write a DLL that creates for me, say, "Mirrors", or "Beams"...that's somehow illegal?

Or are you saying that writing a DLL that 'taps into' the code already in A5 Commercial to allow me access to "Mirrors" and "Beams" is illigal? In the latter case, I totally agree. But in the former one...I don't get it.

Color me confused. [Wink]

It's completely illegal to make it pro by adding in DLLs. Also, 3DZach has been reported to Cornitec (or however you spell it).

Hi !

Why doesn`t Zach reply ? Oh, oh ! He got some <edit> in his drawers ! [Smile]

I really think it is not illegal to write scripts that fake things like mirrors or beams or what ever. But to turn a standard edition into a pro edition must be illegal. If not then I have to be paid back by conitec for the commercial edition. [Smile] (joke)

Best regards

If Zach is using a warez version of 3dgs i am sure conetic will solve this situation [Wink] ...so no need to worry about that.

But the stuff he started with cracking 3dgs isnt inpossible at all. As far as I know the packages you get when installing 3dgs are always the same. So no matter if demo, standard or pro wou will have all files on your hd. The propper version is "unleashed" by adding the key to your 3dgs. And every exe can be rewritten. Even if its pretty stupid cracking a software that has a very fair licensing method- Its like cracking 3dmax if it would cost 300$.
Yeah you can use warez and safe 50$. But dont expect the A6 to be released if conetic cant make enough money to pay their coders.

I like the engine and I think its great because its providing me with the abbility to creat 3d environment without selling my house and car. And I would love to see conetic beeing able to contract more coders because the enigne sells good enough.

But back to the topic: Doug explained it very well. Boosting: YES, Cracking: NO! (simple and pretty logical [Smile] )

So live is good again [Big Grin]

If I remember correctly, coding a DLL from the SDK is totally legal. I see no issues with this. As a matter of fact, if I sprung the extra dinero on the SDK I'd do the same thing, provided I could figure out hoe to do C++ again. But I'm not going to so we'll just leave it at that.

1) How about this: Support your software vendor so they'll be around when you need them.

2) Why is this thread still open?
