OK, I give up. I've been trying to compile a map and I constantly get error code: E097
The odd thing is that I started to remove some objects(rooms) from the map, and there was one compile that worked. Then I tried to reproduce the effect by removing rooms from a previous version and now it won't build again without giving that error. [Mad] [Mad]
anyone???????

Im not sure but you could check in the manual, in the errors section towards the end. It has a list of building errors.

There must come a little Textmessage with the Error,
e.g. "Map Space Overrun" or something else,
and this could help us to help you! [Wink]

the only test message is "Critical Error". It has occured at different points of the compile.

I don't see error code: E097 listed. That won't be the first time an error message wasn't listed in a manual. Maybe Doug or someone knows?

Still, the latest manual IS alot better.....

latest & greatest manual

I think i get this error sometimes during a compile but it doesn't do anything to the game.

I think its 'level leaking'

Critical error you are getting can we have your specs becaseu usually i get this when i used to compile my level from SOULex but it was becaseu it was huge very! Ur prolly experiecing problems becaseu you have an older computer which cant handle it. If thats the problem divie your level in smaller sections. Also if its not same here you are running out of virtual memory which it will crash and give that message!

Well, I just got the Critical E097 as well. I simply added one map entity to my game. I tried deleting it out, but it did not fix the error. Interestingly enough, I deleted the building itself that the object was in, and the problem went away. The building was a simple 16 sided cylinder primitive with the center hollowed out via CSG subtract. I am running a 2.53 ghz pentium 4, so I don't think it's an issue with the computer itself.

Anyway I recreated the building and put it back in the map, and it worked just fine. I read in another thread somewhere that this error is supposed to go away in the next release. I hope so, it is indeed very frustrating.

Taken from old_bill:

Taken from Marco Grubert:

E097 can have a number of reasons, usually it's faces that are very small or highly curved surfaces. The bad news is that there is no way to determine exactly which blocks caused the problem. The good news is that in the next map compiler release this error message has been removed, so build will continue.
