bmap_createblack(4096,4096,24) doesn't work on my ati radeon x1800xt graphic card. I have had the newest driver (7.11) but this only works on nvidia cards. I tested it on 4 PC's (3x nvidia, 1x ati). It only works with bmap_createblack(1024,1024,24).
When you read the manual about texture formates, you'll learn why we advise not to create 4096x4096 textures in a game - but I guess you've now learned this anyway.

I think thats because of the maximal texture size of the cards. ATI cards usually have a smaller maximal texture resolution then NVIDIA cards. Because of this you can't create such large bitmaps on ATI cards. (But newer ATI cards should support this)
