What makes the engine build levels faster, what do I need. Does it mostly use the CPU, Video RAM, or RAM. I'd like to know what I need.

CPU speed is most important; the map compiler uses up to 100 MB of memory- if you have less free memory then this might be a limiting factor. Video memory is not used at all.

haha, then I guess I have quite a time of waiting to do. I started using gamestudio on a P200, and it took a while to build even the lightly complex levels. Now I'm using a 1.47 GHz. I was dissapointed to see build time is still slow.

As pointed out in the manual- you don't have to do a full level-build all the time. You can "Preview" the lighting or use "Testmap" for only checking the geometry.

i build level once then i alwas use test map goes super faster [Smile] [Big Grin]
