Hiya.

Terminal26 has a new 'pack' called "Alive Trees 3D". I tried the demo and was suitably impressed enough to immediately cough up the $26 (Canadian) for it. Check it out if you're interested in 'vegitation solutions' for your game.

Oh, here's the URL: http://www.terminal26.com

Yeah, I really like the demo to but have to say you can do the same without scripting the movements, just by animating key frames then using the resulting model without a script or ent_animating frames.

I recall some one posting flora movement script some time back but can't remember who.

Hiya.

You could do it with animation, sure. But I just got my DL link and in the 'manual' you can set the trees and such to have random rotations, tilts, and scales in X, Y and/or Z, as well as set it up to change seasons (there are models/textures for the four seasons).

All in all, for $26 I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl after work tonight.

Looks nice but I'm seriously concerned about the framerate...or is this just my computer?

Yeah, the trees don't really give me a bad framerate. But with the highest setting of grass it just kills it. The option before that one (don't remember the names) does give me a verry playable framerate.

Really? Huh...with it 'maxed out' on everything, standing at a top ridge where I can see into one of the 'vallys' with lots of trees and a LOT of grass, the lowest I get is about 24 fps. Totally playable IMHO. I'm gonna go do some playing around today.

Mid setting lagged too bad for my system which I thought may be the average specs and thats with the the demo only, what would happen if I put in players, actors, assetts etc?
I suppose one would have to tweak each individual settings like grass, trunks, branches and so on.

Still, for the price and the work already done it would be something to grab.( then again for the Kiwi dollar thats usually twice the amount)

I get about 20 fps with 1024x768 pixel screen resolution. I don't know what happens when you add animated characters, scripts, particles and buildings.

Sometimes I see black borders around the foliage.

2.1GHz
GeForce 7600GS AGP (256MB)
1024 MB DDR-RAM (336MHz)

I wanna get Gamestudio for Mac! I'd pay 200$ for the "Commercial" Edition! That's no alternative ---- His account is "frozen", that means that he is banned until he wants to be unbanned.
