I did a search of the forum and couldn't find anything to help me on this.

Anyways, I want to import a height map into MED to I can use it for terrain.
After creating the .tga file for the actual heightmap I tried several ways to get something into MED. I did the following...

1) Import terrain from pic - nothing on screen
2) New Terrain, then Import terrain from pic - nothing on screen but original terrain grid.
3) Used Blender to create a plane, assigned the .tga to it, removed it as a color and applied it as noise. The terrain looked good in Blender. Exported as .mdl, .3ds, and .x and tried to import them into MED - .mdl gave me a flat plane the others gave me nothing at all.

When there was nothing at all as a result, I zoomed in and out and also rotated in the 3d view to make sure it wasn't too big or too small to see.

I have the commercial version of 3dgs and am running MED v6.846.

What am I missing?

I did a little experimentation and finally got something that works.

Consider this one closed.

when you solve your own problems it helps others in the future who may encounter the same problem if you post how you solved it. i always use .bmp as a heightmao by the way...

I wouldn't say I solved it as much as I came up with a work around for it. Opening the .tga file in photochop and saving it as an 8 bit .bmp and finally "Import Terrain from Pic" is how I finally got it into MED.

I assumed it was because of seeing this when doing an import terrain from pic...

Apparently it doesn't like .tga...
