my laptop graphics card, a intel 915GM (yes it sucks i know, i use it mostly to program
) seems to emulate the vertex shader via the GPU. This way when i check my d3d_shaderversion variable it says only 20 (which means pixel shader 2.0) the intel website says the vertex shader model is 3.0:
